Video Series

During this year, 2013, I started making videos on the process and inspirations of the work here at Andi-Le. I love creating the perfect piece for clients and designers. I love  the collaboration, especially the result, after the installation.

With these videos I am hoping to inspire everyone to  support artisans and crafts(wo)men, and encourage you to seek out makers and designers of pieces who instill pride in the laborious efforts.

Living  with art brings soul to a home. The details create style.

So here is Video 1 "introducing Andi-Le".

I just want to say, I am WAY more comfortable in the studio, and have a lot more respect for TV personalities.

Asymmetry and Imperfection

Nature cannot be made more perfect. Every tree, rock and stream etc, is beautiful is it's own simplicity. Wind has hand carved the time that has gone by. Water and sun patina most anything in its view. There is just no improvement one can do to natures work. The natural direction of growth and age presents itself to the eye in wonder.

I love riding my horse, out here in Colorado, through the Pinyon Pine. They are natures sculptures, always changing and morphing in to craggy shapes. They grow in the most arid landscapes out west. It leaves you in wonder.

As a furniture designer I want to balance the "naturalness" with contemporary. I use thick planks to feel the weight and work with it's natural inherency's. We handcraft our pieces with mostly clear wood here at Andi-Le to work within the aesthetic. Knots are great opportunities for a unique piece of furniture. The grains might also enhance the end result. Adding other elements, for instance stainless steel, acrylic, or stone change the dynamic for the chosen decor.

Check out Andi-Le's latest one of a kind pieces to see where the inspiration leads. Live Creatively,

Until next time, Andrea

Accent Furniture Installations Just in Time

Well, my blogging got lost in the work load.Lots of pieces to install for clients here in Aspen, to enjoy a fantastic holiday season. Thankfully, the snow fell and we had our winter wonderland.

One of the installations was a custom fireplace mantel for Mountain Resort Interiors here in Aspen. The remodel was done in a rich, mountain contemporary style. Blacks, grays, and splashes of red  were predominant along with the warmth of wood floors and ceiling  beams. I designed a mantel incorporating the stainless accents and fabric patterns in  in shades of black and gray. The end result reminded me a little of Louise Nevelson's wall sculptures.

Very textural and strong.

More images of the latest installations to come .

Until next time, xx

A Truck Full of Aspen Seats and Tables

SCORE!

Ahhh the smell of fresh cut Aspens. They are big, heavy and who knows what inspiration they will provide for "One-of-a-Kind" pieces of accent furniture. Each one will be  unique and handcrafted. These hunks will need most of the winter to dry out, and crack.  Nature will do what it does, then the enhancing begins.

til next week, xx
