Sunrise and sunsets are magical.
Adding Functional Elements of Art
Beauty albeit subjective, is a measure of emotion.
In reference to art, I consider it a successful communication
between the artist and the viewer or perceiver.
Enjoying your surroundings and the beauty within
gives us a sense of peace and belonging.
Homes tell a story about who we are and what makes us tick.
Furniture is the key component
that shapes an interior space with style.
Adding functional elements of art expresses personality
and comes with a story.
Knowing that story adds a layer of “icing”
to a beautiful décor,
transforming your home to a unique expression
of style with a spirit and soul.
Blending art and function is my passion,
absorbing layers of references for design inspiration.
At Andi-Le,
the aesthetic is a unique layering of materials and textures
and is perfect for those who choose
to live creatively
and refuse to settle for the ordinary in home décor.
People are happy in a beautiful space
surrounded by beautiful objects. It heals the body and soul.

Inspired By Nature
Growing up as East Coaster, the beach was my inspiration.
After spending the last 25+ years as a girl of the West,
I have explored, skied, biked, hiked, kayaked, fished and
rode horses thru the most spectacular landscape.
I have often felt I was on a movie set.
This terrain not only provides an attitude adjustment
but slowly crept into my soul and inspired me with
layers, textures and tones
only found throughout the west and southwest.
I created this video celebrating nature
and the places I have experienced
that inspire my work.

Tattoos and Furniture Design
This week in the studio I began a bench design that has been
in the back of my mind for a long time.
I am fascinated by tattoos and the "why’s" and what they mean
to the people that adorn themselves, permanently.
As the rebellious child that I “was”,
Yes! I would definitely have had a few,
If only to irritate and shock my mother :)
Tribal tattoos originated from various indigenous tribes around the world,
who use tattoos to depict social status, beliefs, and ceremonies.
Regardless of style, two things are staples in a tribal tattoo,
they are solid black and it involves a lot of lines.
For this bench, I focused on the tattoos of the
many tribes of the Polynesians.
I like the strong black lines. It feels strong and masculine
but with a female sensuality.
Below are a few of the symbols and meanings
that will be found on the Tat Bench
Next week I will start the
burning process
( one of my favorite
things to do),
then fine tune with more
sanding and details.

Functional and Art
In between my "dirty" work, (building custom furniture),
painting has given me new energy.
As an illustration major, I love drawing and painting.
Painting murals, fabric and even furniture was my first business.
Creating art that is functional has been my focus and is my passion.
Putting art and design in everyday living
changes peoples lives and elevates perceptions and style.
"The Radish"is part of a series
of hand-painted linen tablecloths called
"Ingredients".
Still in the test stage, I am having fun with the process.
Stay tuned to see the series.
until next time,
