Fusion, mix it up!

Fusion: a distinct entity formed by combining 2 or more different things. To Blend. I love the word fusion for several reasons. I love to mix it up. Mixing it up with people. There is  Food fusion, Mexican-sushi, what could be better? Fashion fusion, a vintage dress and African beads and platform shoes. Of course, there is more to it than throwing it on. But, when done correctly.... Stunning! Then there is design fusion. It is personal and it creates an individual  style.  It is about balance and merging different cultures and principles.  Design fusion like nature is imperfect but authentic.  Blending the influences of disparate cultures and times, creates a new design aesthetic.  The latest Ikat textiles can work with contemporary interiors.  The modern acrylic  "Ghost Chair" next to an organic rough hewn wood dining table is spectacular design.

Fusing materials, and styles is fresh and brings energy to design.

Keep your eyes open and you will see fusion everywhere.

Put the FUN back in Function

I read somewhere, that every room should have that "special" chair. It adds personality, zip and FUN. Sculptural yet functional. Furniture as art has been growing like crazy for years..   Design Miami went from a small venue to a giant in a very short time.  Consumers are more picky about their purchases. cookie-cutter and mass produced items loose their worth and the attention.

As a furniture designer,  helping clients accentuate their personal style while creating a piece that stands alone as art, and also finds balance in the decor, is truly gratifying. And because of my love of the chair,  I am creating a line of "Accessory Seats".

Investing in one piece that tickles you, every time you walk in a room is priceless. So get out their and find you Fun.

Fresh From the Studio

End Table SeatsThe high-gloss finish on this scarred Aspen log,  gives this piece a contemporary edge. Fortunately I was able to get two of these uniquely marked pieces out of one  log.  Check out other One-of -a-Kinds at www.andi-le.com

Are you Board Crazy?

The feast for your eyes. It is everywhere. Like many, I can spend hours looking at art and design, but my memory is like a sieve. I need references, I need books, I need ginko!  In my design work I turn to my boards. Colors, textures, design all in one place. Images that I ripped out of  magazines, printed off the computer or photos I have taken, all on a foam-core board.. If you haven't heard of Pinterest, it is the latest and greatest sharing mechanism. Personally, I need the real deal to work by, but love posting and looking at other peoples boards.

There is so much to see, amazing talent and creativity. This is a snippet of one of my furniture boards. I have texture boards, as well as boards for textiles and colors. They inspire and astound my senses. Give it a try!

Mud on the Tires

“You can only get there, with a little mud on the tires”.

Brad Paisley’s song has nothing’ on the mud season in Aspen. The carwash??? It is a “why bother?” Feeding horses? This mud can suck your boot off.

Do I love it?

You bet I do… Once the thaw is over, ahhhhh… Summer is close by.

The bikes are getting tuned, the horses are shedding out and our energy is up. After working inside the studio during the winter cold months, I can open up the big door and  work outside

In The Studio This Week: Great progress has been made on the large sculptural candle holders. They will be on their way to the finisher this week! Prototypes for the latest line of "Accessory Seats" are started. And....

The Andi-Le Alluvium Bench was chosen as an "Editors Choice" in the March edition of Home Accents Today!
