We love to entertain here in Aspen. We like a casual but sophisticated ambience. I am always looking for ideas to mange guests but not micro-manage. As the hostess, I am always concerned that everyone gets to taste all the hors devours;

I found that my guests don’t reach across the table; they would only eat what is in front of them.

THE SOLUTION... Let’s bring back the Lazy Susan.

NEXT CHALLENGE…. After searching and googling, the styles were, uh … lets say… 1950s and brown

THE ANSWER… Into my studio I go, to create Lazy Susans with an exceptional design, style and sophistication, pieces that have the global modern aesthetic of Andi-Le. carved and embellished.

They are definitely not your mother’s lazy susans. And they are NOT SO lazy. 3 collections (so far) and more to come.

Do you want a glimpse into the Aspen Studio?

As an artist with a monkey mind, I am constantly thinking of new pieces I would like to create for my home. Last year I had a brilliant idea for candleholders. Of course they had to be large, bold, and always weighty. I chopped, laminated, carved texture, sanded, primed, sanded again, bought a paint sprayer (now sitting abandoned in a corner). This was just for the wood component.

In the next step, I had acrylic pieces that were sanded to an opaque finish, and glued up. I realized that the special epoxy moved….for quite awhile…… keeping me on the movement watch for much longer than anticipated in order to be straight. Let’s not forget that candleholders need a something to secure the candle incase of a bump, and causing a lit candle to roll off. (No need to explain, I am sure). This step had me grinding this small metal piece to insert on the top of the candleholder.

Countless hours, and a few tears later, I had several sets of these pretty fabulous candleholders. All have since sold. Chequers of Aspen carried them as well as The Picket Fence in Sun Valley, Idaho and Menlo, CA.

Like childbirth, (I think), the laborious memory faded and I had an epiphany, Let’s do those candle holders in a different way.

Let’s try leather hide in place of the acrylic, so I chopped, laminated, ROUTED, carved texture, sanded, primed, sanded, and sprayed again… (Sprayer is back in the corner). This time I bought beautiful croc cowhides, cut strips, steamed them to be more pliable, nailed them, glued, steamed again, glued some more… and Voila,

So after more countless hours, a few less tears, I created 6 sets of these candleholders. I am not sure I will create this “child” again.   But maybe………

So that was  a little insight to how it goes creating accent pieces in the Andi-Le studio, from an idea to conception to the finished project.

til next time xx Andrea

With a couple feet of fresh snow, it is a winter wonderland. The really cold temperatures in the mornings have been brutal, making my barn chores a little less enjoyable. My horses had frosted eyelashes! So extra carrots and extra hay are on their menu.

From Our Home to Yours, Wishing you a happy and creative holiday season,

til next YEAR

Bespoke vs Mass Produced Furniture

Finding the right piece, in the right size, in the right tone, with the right elements, can be down right tough. And can leave a bare space in your home for longer than you intended and never being quite finished or quite right.

While buying either a custom pieces or a mass produced piece can be beautiful and exclusive. The exclusivity is in the process not the design.

As a designer and maker, I am moved by a desire for authenticity and pieces genuinely inspired by the maker. I like knowing the hands that touched it, the history, the story and the soul of a piece.

I encourage everyone to find artists and craftsmen that resonate with you. Get involved in the process and create something fresher and more alive.

A home is more than a place to rest your heads. Beautiful objects have the ability to transform. Your home is the best representation of who you are, what you like and how you live.

So my passion is to help you LIVE CREATIVELY!

LUXDETAILS the Preview Launch

My passion for hand crafted and superior quality pieces with an edge, finally got the best of me.

I launched LUXDETAILS, an online gallery of one-of-a-kind and limited edition, home and fashion accessories.

One of the issues with being creative is that artists and designers LOVE to create. Selling, on the other hand, is not a LOVE. And “getting out there” can be elusive.

I love to create, and along with the Andi-Le line of custom accent furniture, I have a million ideas. Designing and creating one of a kind pieces and limited edition,

home accessories lets my juices flow. LUXDETAILS.com will represent Andi-Le accessories as well as other artist/designers.

It will be an honor to spotlight talented and undiscovered makers and designers of superior quality work with authenticity and an aesthetic of luxury with an edge. Not crafty but hip. Not only a mix of high design and sophistication, but pieces with a soul, meaning and purpose.

For the discerning clientele with a selective eye, I will introduce objects that imply luxury and a certain exclusivity that comes with seeking out what is not readily found. The collections of LUXDETAILS are curated and hold to critical standards.

I will search the world to bring you fantastic and unique objects to choose from. Nothing mass-produced here, just limited edition or one-of-a-kind, pure integrity and pride in every piece.
